Frequently Asked Questions
What type of services do you offer?
We are a comprehensive mental health practice and offer diagnostic services, therapy, and medication management.
What is concierge medicine?
Concierge medicine means that we make ourselves available to you and your schedule. Our goal is to make you feel like the valued individual that you are. We want your care to be easily accessible to meet your lifestyle. That may mean tele-health, phone calls, text messages, or in clinic.
When you are a client of Pediatric Institute, you have access to a trained Psychiatrist or Therapist 7-days a week. We are there when you need us!
Do you treat adults or children?
We treat both! Dr. P and the other caregivers are specially trained in both adults and pediatric psychiatry.
Do you accept insurance?
We have chosen not to accept insurance so that we can provide the best possible care for you or your loved one.
When a provider accepts insurance, they are bound by the insurance company to follow their rules which may not always be evidence-based or in the best interest of the patient. For instance, most insurance companies only allow a certain number of visits whether your problem has been fully addressed or not. They also restrict the amount of time a provider can see a patient for.
By not accepting insurance, we are bound to the patient, not an insurance company. It allows our care to be completely confidential and gives us the freedom to spend as much time as you need.
We want you treatment to be completely centered around you!
What are the benefits of not using insurance?
When you pay out of pocket instead of using insurance, the treatment and confidentiality remain between you and us.
Do you diagnose Autism?
Yes. We perform comprehensive diagnostic assessments using the gold standard assessment, ADOS-2. We also perform a cognitive assessment to test for any intellectual disabilities.
Our extensive experience with school boards and insurance companies puts us in a unique position to perform the testing required by both for 504 plans, IEPs, and continued care through your insurance.
Do you prescribe medications?
Dr. P is a renowned psychiatrist and MD who can prescribe medications including controlled medications. There are certain federal regulations about tele-health when it comes to prescribing controlled medications so give us a call to see if tele-health is available to you!
